Purpose of the Foundation

The following measures and projects are supported by the Steffen Lohrer Foundation (excerpt from the Articles of Association):

1.) The purpose of the foundation is to promote complementary medicine and holistic, natural, or alternative healing methods, to provide education and counseling on alternative treatment approaches, and to support the training and continuing education of therapists. In addition, the foundation promotes science and research in the field of complementary medicine as well as charitable activities. The foundation pursues exclusively and directly charitable and benevolent purposes within the meaning of the section “Tax-Privileged Purposes” of the German Fiscal Code (Abgabenordnung, AO) and operates on a non-profit basis.


2.) The charitable purpose of the foundation is realized in particular through the promotion of:

a.| measures for public education and information on the opportunities and limitations of complementary healing methods and methods for raising awareness, in particular through events, conferences, publications, and films;

b.| measures to advise patients or their relatives in the selection of appropriate therapies and qualified therapists in the field of holistic healing methods;

c.| projects that have a positive impact on body, mind, or soul (e.g., yoga, meditation, etc.);

d.| training and continuing education programs in naturopathic treatments, holistic healing approaches, and methods for positive development of consciousness;

e.| institutions that provide people seeking help with promising therapeutic complements to conventional medicine and contribute to long-term health (e.g., through homeopathy or acupuncture);

f.| research projects on the conditions and effects of alternative healing methods, including their medical and scientific documentation;

g.| measures and projects for the inclusion of energetic or spiritual healing practices (in the sense of support for healing through spiritual means) within the healthcare system;

h.| measures aimed at the integration of alternative healing methods into conventional medicine;

i.| projects fostering collaboration between therapists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals;

j.| suitable measures for identifying and publishing outstanding therapists and healers;

k.| projects to promote and enforce an ethical code of conduct for therapists;

l.| scholarships in the field of complementary medicine.


3.) The benevolent purpose of the foundation is realized in particular through the promotion of:

a.| projects and institutions in the field of complementary medicine for ill individuals who, due to their physical, mental, or emotional condition, are dependent on the assistance of others (e.g., through homeopathy or acupuncture);

b.| direct support for ill individuals who, due to their physical, mental, or emotional condition and simultaneous financial need, are dependent on the assistance of others (e.g., grants toward treatment costs).
